Biography
Original Oil Paintings
Emily Chaney graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002.
She was recently featured in the September 2007 issue of Southwest Art Magazine. Her work is currently on display
at the Paisley Pomegranate in Park City and The Pickett Fairbank's Gallery in Salt Lake City.
Chaney uses color to catch the eye, and applies a mix of hard lines with blended brushstrokes
to capture a moment. Painting in Plein Air allows her to feel the scene and understand the
light of the day. She reflects on her past, growing up in Clinton, Utah. "The perfect
peaceful afternoon was when I was a little girl sitting with my great grandmother in her rose
garden. I remember the hot sun warming the air and smelling the sweet roses. I'll never forget
the look of contentment on my grandmother's face. Although she is gone now, the memory remains.
I hope to capture this feeling in each piece-the essence of a fleeting moment, a reminder of
the past, a perfect day."
